Publishing & loanPUUT BIBLIOTEKET är ett konstverk av Karl Larsson, med ursprung i projektet ”Miljonprogrammet” ett ständigt växande arkiv beståendes av över två miljoner fotografier vilka Karl sedan 2003 fotograferat. Utifrån detta material skapas i en gör-det-själv-tradition kontinuerligt egna publikationer – ibland i samarbetsform. Dessa titlar utgör grunden för PUUT-biblioteket.
En kärna i bibliotekssystemet är den öppna dialogen som vilar på en utbytesstruktur. Utifrån denna premiss utforskar PUUT-biblioteket med konst & estetik olika samtida frågor. Inte bara det, PUUT bygger på önskan att inte bara göra samtidskonsten mer tillgänglig utan även öppna upp samhället i stort. I tider där den kollektiva kulturen är under attack blir biblioteket en motståndshandling – en plats för kontemplation, där alla genom kollektivt ägande får en plats att vara.
Biblioteket är (liksom konstnären) en nomad, som besökt i Wales, Danmark, Turkiet, Rumänien och Sverige. Detta för att möjliggöra en praktik vilken fritt kan röra sig i olika sammanhang (inkluderat de konst och kultur erbjuder); exempelvis bokmässor, konstnärsbokmässor, zinefester, konstnärsdrivna initiativ såväl som institutioner.The PUUT LIBRARY is an ongoing work of art by Karl Larsson, originated from the project “Miljonprogrammet” (The one million project) in which Larsson since 2003 with the the camera making an ever-expanding photographic archive containing over two million images. Based in this material, Larsson in a do-it-yourself tradition continuously makes his own publications - sometimes in collaborative form. These titles form the basis of the PUUT library.
A core of the library system is dialogue, as the whole idea rests on a structure of exchange. Within this premise, the PUUT library explores art and aesthetics as a greater desire to make contemporary art more accessible. In times when collective culture is under attack, the library becomes an act of resistance – a place of contemplation, where everyone is given a place to be through collective ownership.
The library (like the artist) is a nomad, who made visits in Wales, Denmark, Turkey, Romania and Sweden. This to enable the practice within different contexts that art and culture offers; such as artist’s books fairs, zine-fests, artist run initiatives as well as institutions.
